A The 84 Events Wedding

This was a very special wedding to capture - Tara is my sister in law! I’ve watched this couple’s relationship grow from the very beginning, which has been so incredibly special to witness. I was so honored they wanted me to photograph their wedding! Playing wedding photographer & wedding guest was a little tricky - but so much fun!

The 84 Events is a gorgeous wedding and events venue in Floyd, Virginia. Equal parts rustic and elevated, the space is filled with so much natural light and the surrounding landscape boasts lush fields, big trees, and of course, the beautiful quintessential Southwest Virginia rolling hills. They also have cows and donkeys on site!

The weather was a wildcard this day, and rain was a big threat, but luckily we only had a little rain shower during groomsmen photoshoot and then the sun came out in time for the ceremony and reception! What luck!

The couple had first looks with their dad & mom. Mom was very proud and emotional seeing her son ready to get married. It was sweet and tender moment and this really comes through genuinely in the photos. I love capturing this moment! The bridal party was such a fun group, we had a blast during the bridal party photos! My kiddos were flower girl and ring bearer, I loved being able to see them in these roles an they were so excited for their big moment! The couple surprised the mother of bride with a flower man during ceremony - she was shocked!

The day was just filled to the brim with so much love all day long. Evan cried when he saw Tara in her gown, which was so sweet! My favorite photos of the day were the bride and groom portraits. We got creative and really played up the bride’s LONG veil and had a beautiful golden hour sunset backdrop which made for some very romantic newlywed portraits.

There were so many kids at the wedding and recepetion, which gave it a real family feel! They had lots of kid friendly elements - trail mix/goldfish station, coloring station, and goodie bags. The reception was filled with toasts from so many family members and friends and plenty of dancing beneath the stars!
