A Family Farm Micro Wedding - Roanoke VA - Katelyn & Mackenzie

b&g (16).jpg

Katelyn & Mackenzie are high school sweethearts! I’ve known Katelyn for what seems like forever - she’s one of my sister’s best friends. I was so thrilled when she asked me to photograph the wedding.

Katelyn & Mackenzie chose their family farm for their venue. The big farmhouse is so picturesque! Over a little bridge, Mackenzie built stairs to a gorgeous pathway along the river. At the end of the pathway, there is a big open field surrounded by trees and the river. The ceremony and reception took place here with family and friends gathered around the couple. Katelyn & Mackenzie purchased their own farm to start their own traditions and I can’t wait to see what they do!

Katelyn put a lot of thought into her details for the day and it showed! She from the start of planning that she would have several different rugs to line the aisle, create a dance floor, and the alter! She had custom drawings of the farmhouse to incorporate into her invitations as well as a personalized pizza menu for dinner!

Katelyn’s original plan for bride and groom portraits was to drive to the top of the mountain for the views. Since it rained the morning of the wedding, the road was washed out - BUT that meant that the “sinking creek” was filled! I convinced Katelyn & Mackenzie to hop in the river at the end of the day for some photos and it was so romantic!
