What to Wear for Engagement Photos
Deciding what to wear for your engagement session can be so hard! I get asked for advice frequently so I thought a blog post may be helpful! I hope you find these little tips helpful - and always remember to be yourself!
CHANGE IT UP!
One of my biggest suggestions is to change your outfits partway through the session! This gives you the ability to have two different styles, two different color schemes or even just different variety for when you’re hanging these photos on your walls! I like to suggest one dressier and one more casual outfit, but you do you!
GET FANCY!
Dressing up can really add so much to your photos! You probably don’t get to dress up that often so consider it a treat to yourself! It’ll also give you that confidence boost during your session. It’s also a great idea to have your hair and makeup done for your session!
COMFY CASUAL
Maybe getting dressed up is not your style? No worries! Jeans and casual attire look great too! Your photos should feel like YOU and that is the most important thing! Discomfort in any clothes will come across in your photos. So throw on your favorite pair of jeans that make you feel SO great!
DON’T BE TOO MATCHY
We’ve all seen the groups on the beach where everyone is wearing white shirts and khaki pants right? But this is your engagement session! We don’t want to look like matching siblings! Find colors that flow well and compliment each other! If one person has a print to their outfit, choose the accent colors that are complimentary to the print for the other person!
MAKE IT FLOWY!
Movement is key so if you’re going to get dressed up, think about a dress that can flow! It’s so much fun to play up that movement during the session and bring your photos to life!
ACCESSORIZE AND LAYER
Bringing fun accessories and layer options to your session can really make your engagement photos more fun and a bit fashionable! Throw on that jacket or hat for some photos to give a different feel.
DRESS FOR THE SEASON!
When choosing your outfits, think about the season, the weather, and the scenery. Wear clothing that works well with the location you chose as well as the weather that day.
POLISH THAT ROCK!
And of course - don’t forget to clean that ring of yours! We want to show it off during an engagement session!
THINGS TO INCORPORATE
I’m not big on props, but there are always some things you can bring along to your engagement session to add some fun! Think champagne to pop, your fur baby (no one’s dog is perfect, but I promise we’ll get a good one!), or a blanket to snuggle up!
BE YOU!
Most importantly, be yourself! Whatever you decide to wear should make you feel amazing! Feeling good in the outfit will definitely come across in your photos.
