A Private Estate Wedding in Harrisonburg - Malli & Jacob

Malli & Jacob’s private estate wedding in Harrisonburg, Virginia was downright exquisite in every way. These two got married in a hurricane - and it didn’t stop them for a second

The wedding venue was the groom’s grandmother’s estate. It was seriously gorgeous! It’s a tradition, as all family weddings are held there.

Even in the weather, the couple opted for an outdoor ceremony. Malli’s dream was always to get married outdoors, and we were going to make it happen! All guests were given umbrellas/ponchos; everyone was so happy for them and went along for the WET ride. (We were SOAKED by the end but it was so worth it!)

Her wedding colors were so pretty. I loved the champagne bridesmaid dresses and pops of color in their bouquets. Mali’s dress was so unique - the “train” coming off the shoulders was beautiful in the wind and photographed beautifully!

The bride did three first looks! The first with her dad, which was so sweet. Second with her groom, Jacob. It was EMOTIONAL - probably the most emotional I’ve seen as a photographer. I was honored to have captured this powerful moment. They exchanged private vows, which were so intimate and intentional - in the rain. (Swoon! So Romantic!) The final first look was with their pup. It’s always a favorite moment for me when the dogs come in - and he came running!

The ceremony was beautiful despite the rain, emotional and sweet. The beautiful archway was the perfect backdrop. Their bridal party was so fun and such troopers. They were freezing in the windy rain, but we made it through and had fun with it!

There was a big tented reception with dance floor. It was a large wedding so there was so much mingling, dancing, laughter, conversations ,and catching up, everyone so excited for the bride and groom. Big weddings really have such a buzz and energy about them! The newlyweds’ new shared last name is Byrd, so bird themed details (table numbers, favors, figurines, etc) were throughout the reception.

The live band kept everyone dancing and signing along all night long. There was plenty of champagne and delicious food. Toasts by family were sweet and first dances were fun and choreographed!

The new Mr. & Mrs. shared a private last dance before a sparkler exit (in the rain as the rest of the day). They embraced the rain and the mud and everyone was so excited for them!
